What is Hydro-Seeding?

It is a process where seed, water, fertilizer and mulch are mixed together and sprayed (or is blown)onto prepared soil.  In one application the ground is seeded, mulched, fertilized and watered.

What is Slit-seeding?

It is a process where seed is mechanically sown directly into the soil with a small, walk behind implement.  The benefit is instant seed to soil contact, providing a healthy environment for germination.

All new plantings must be properly cared for in order to assure short term plant survivability and long term plant health.

Plants are living organisms – and they require some of the same basic needs as we do; Water, Food and Sunlight. Plants grown in nurseries, such as your new plants, have been cared for daily, and under near optimal conditions.  Once these plants have been relocated and transplanted, it is not uncommon that they experience some “transplant shock”. Transplant shock is mainly caused by changes in environment, moisture conditions, soil type and nutritional changes.

As we all know water is an essential element.  It can also be an incredibly destructive force.  Water has formed some of the most amazing natural sights such as The Grand Canyon, Lake Mead and the shorelines of our own Great Lakes.  The harnessing of flowing water has been a source of power for centuries throughout the world.  Coupled with gravity water is a force to be reckoned with; one that cannot be completely controlled but only managed.  Drainage solutions becomes very important to the homeowner.

Seawall construction is quickly picking up pace as residential and commercial owners are seeking solutions to prevent erosion of their property. As environmental awareness grows waterfront property owners are becoming more educated on the effects of erosion, as it has a direct implication on the value of the property.

Seawalls are intended to provide shoreline defense to reduce the effects of strong waves, while preserving property retention. Shoreline erosion is a prevalent problem amongst waterfront properties seen throughout southeast Michigan due to the vast number of lakes and rivers. Erosion can occur for a multitude of reasons such as the general movement of water, high wake, ice pressure, environment factors and material properties.
